End of availability announcement: The offline Bible for the iPhone has been a success. Over 100 people donated and received IMAP accounts where they were able to download the entire Bible to their iPhone, and read it offline. Unfortunately, the iPhone 1.1.3 version of Mail can no longer handle large IMAP accounts. This means that a large IMAP account with the Bible will have some chapters appearing with the message: "This message cannot be displayed because the way is formatted. Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program. text/plain" I have discussed the problem with Apple, and they said it is a known issue, but they have no solution for it yet.
Even though this presents a problem, the iPhone SDK is arriving end of February. I am working hard at learning Cocoa, and intent to have a Bible program available for the iPhone soon after the SDK arrives. When this happens, all IMAP accounts will slowly be phased out the new version. Anyone who has already donated will receive a copy soon after completion, and it will be publicly released shortly after that. If you wish to donate to help the progress of the application, and perhaps allow me to take a day off to work on it, you can do so here:
. Donating will not create an IMAP account however, but will allow me to take the time to work on the project. I do have a few neat features I wish to introduce, but you will find out about those. :D
Native Application? I got the MacMini with the donations from this site, and am now learning Cocoa. Stay tuned. As soon as I figure it out, I'll start working on it. :D
